This picture has taken me quite longer than ever anticipated. Its been through a lot of revisions and I never thought it would've ever seen this site finished--much less get printed. I'm sure the next pieces should be a little easier and hopefully a little quicker. lol
"From its origins as totems or the stylized depiction of natural creatures, the Chinese dragon evolved to become a mythical animal. By the Han Dynasty, the dragon's appearance is described as having a body of a snake; the scales and tail of a fish; the antlers of a stag; the face of a camel; and two pairs of talons of eagles; ears of a bull; feet of a tiger and the eyes of a demon. It has a flaming pearl under its chin. Chinese dragons are occasionally depicted with bat-like wings growing out of the front limbs, but most do not have wings, though oddly enough, they are still capable of taking flight.
This description accords with the artistic depictions of the dragon down to the present day. The dragon has also acquired an almost unlimited range of supernatural powers. It is said to be able to disguise itself as a silkworm, or become as large as our entire universe. It can fly among the clouds or hide in water. It can form clouds, can turn into water or fire, can become invisible or glow in the dark"

Here we are now, two lost souls seeking some form of enlightenment and truth in this world, and becoming lost together as we cross paths in this small block of text.
Okay. Thankfully you did some things that made the dragon and the background work alright together. The swirling you did does wonders for this dragon's scales, too. Altogether this is a shining piece of work. It reminds me of Daniel Sessum's art, actually.
Despite this ... the lesson that should be staring you in the eye right now is not to take a year to do a painting. You could fill several pages on deviantart with all kinds of art in a year if you wanted to. You probably shouldn't let a "project" continue as long as this one did, because then the myriad of other ideas and potential artworks become lost or forgotten. This guy has gobbled your mana and potential artworks long enough.
Anyways. Harray! The Year of the Dragon is over. : p

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
